Elida V is designed and constructed by three partners, Danish Yacht Design, Coriolis AB (Ltd.) and Elida AB (Ltd.). The construction calculations are performed by High Modular.

Mats/ Resin/Adhesives

• Polyester Hydrex 200-800 is used for interior structure, deckhouse, etc.
• Divilette NQG1 HV bedding adhesive for Divinycell HD quality
• Divilette SQ bedding adhesive for Divinycell H quality
• Hull laminate: 2 x CSM 225 g/m3, 5 x DBLT 850/100 g/m3
• Core material (Divinycell): HD-250 45 mm (bottom + 75 mm above KVL and for places of reinforcement), H-130 50 mm (freeboard and deck)

Main engine
• Volvo Penta D6 310
• Fuel: green diesel
• 6 L digital commonrail diesel engine 310 hp.
• SOLAS certified with the following equipment:
– Mounted in a stainless A-60 box
– Dry exhaust follows the trunk above the deckhouse
– Flexible engine suspension and fixed gear
– Mekanord gear 270 6:1 with extended manoeuvre shaft for propeller pitch control
– Water lubricated stainless steel stern tube and Hunnested four-blade sailing pitch propeller, ø 945 mm

The main engine is equipped with:
• 1 bilge pump 2.5” impeller 30 m3/h
• 1 firepump Desmi centrifugal pump 25 m3/h
• 1 generator 24 VDC, 100 A
• 2 sea-valves: one for cooling water and one for fire pump
• 1 overboard-valve for cooling water output, and 1 split for lubricating the shaft

The “water maker room,” located on port side of the engine room, is equipped with:
• 1 ENWA water maker yielding 5 m3/day
• 1 water pump for fresh water
• 1 Pulsonex heater
• 1 CumminsOnan 4 kW generator
• 1 high pressure pump for the sprinkler system with battery backup for running 30 min
• 1 tank with Softonex additive agent for low-pressure fog

Emergency pumps
On each side of the aft platform, 1 emergency bilge generator resp. 1 fire pump are located, operated manually and with a capacity of 30 m3 resp. 25 m3.
Self-evacuating Desmi pumps with Hartz engines
The fire pump can also run the sprinkler.

General electrical overview
In a time of ever-increasing power consumption, we have created a low-energy installation. 
While sailing we use solely LED lighting throughout the ship with extremely low consumption. 
The daily energy consumption is covered 70-80 percent by solar cells (placed on top of the deckhouse); in case of high consumption, batteries can be charged by a generator or by land power.

Batteries
• 2 sets of batteries 600/300 Ah
• 1 set of emergency batteries for navigation 240 Ah, placed in connection with the navigation console
• 1 set of emergency batteries for the radio 150 Ah, placed on top of the deckhouse
• 10 solar cell panels, each yielding on average 24 V, 20 kWh/day
• 1 generator main engine 100 Ah
• 1 generator 80 Ah
• 1 charger 220 V land power 120 Ah
• 2 charging relays for emergency batteries

The rigging
• The rigging consists of main mast and mizzen mast, manufactured in anodized aluminium with rods in stainless steel. The whole rigging is estimated with a safety margin of maximum load x 2.25.
• The booms are of the ParkAvenue type, indicating they are very wide in order to catch the sails in a safe way.
• The foresails are of the manual furler type
• The main and mizzen sails are of the full batten type; the sail cloth is a Spectra canvas, providing low weight, stable form and long lifetime.
• 1 winch control station with 4 large Harken winches midships provides the “engine” of the sailing and is perfectly located for quick orders and manoeuvres.

The keel
The keel box is manufactured in ship steel grade A, filled with led, blasted and painted. It is fixed to the ship hull with 36 M30 bolts, in addition to being glued with Sikaflex.

The rudder
The rudder is a free-hanging spade rudder, made of aluminium and with bearings in hull and deck. It is manoeuvred with 2 hand pumps.
The rudder is manufactured at Svendborgs Skipsveft, Denmark.
